IOL Acceptable Usage Policy

BT Ireland provides national and international access resources to its customers, through its own network and connections to networks outside of Ireland On-Line. Access to these networks is contingent on this Acceptable Usage Policy which applies to all of our customers.

 

1) Ireland On-Line's services are provided for the customer and the customer therefore agrees to neither share the service, nor use the service to share Ireland On-Line sensitive information with others.

2) Ireland On-Line's services may not be used for any activity which contravenes the laws of Ireland or any other applicable jurisdiction.

3) Customers may not use Ireland On-Line's services to seek to gain unauthorised access to Ireland On-Line's facilities, services or resources or to the facilities, services or resources of connected networks.

4) Customers may not use Ireland On-Line's services to engage in activities which waste Ireland On-Line's resources (people, networks, computers and financial).

5) Customers may not use Ireland On-Line's services to engage in activities which cause or are liable to cause disruption or denial of service to other customers

6) Customers may not use Ireland On-Line's services to create, host or transmit offensive or obscene material, or engage in activities which would cause offence to others on the grounds of race, creed or sex.

7) Customers may not use Ireland On-Line's services to create, host or transmit material which is designed to cause annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to others.

8) Customers may not use Ireland On-Line's services to create, host or transmit material which is defamatory.

9) Customers may not use Ireland On-Line's services to create, host or transmit material which infringes the copyright of another person or organisation.

10) Customers may not use Ireland On-Line's services to engage in activities which infringe the proprietary rights of software.

11) Customers may not use Ireland On-Line's services to engage in activities which compromise the privacy of others.

12) Customers may not use Ireland On-Line's services to engage in activities which would destroy the integrity of computer based information.

13) Customers may not use Ireland On-Line's service to transmit unsolicited commercial or advertising material either to other customers or to other organisations connected to other networks, if the transmission of such material causes, or is likely to cause, annoyance.

14) Ireland On-Line's services are not intended for resale. Resale of services without making specific arrangements with Ireland On-Line is not permitted.

15) Customers may not use Ireland On-Line's services for unsuitable purposes which shall include the use of unsuitable, offensive or obscene Customer names.

16) Ireland On-Line allows each customer to set-up their own e-mail addresses. However, e-mail addresses registered which are inactive for a period of more than 90 days will be terminated and that particular address will then become available for use by another customer.

Ireland On-Line reserves the right to take such action, in accordance with Ireland On-Line's Terms and Conditions of Service, as it deems appropriate against customers who violate any conditions of the Acceptable Usage Policy.

This Acceptable Usage Policy will be amended from time to time as is deemed necessary. A copy of the policy will be made available over Ireland On-Line's web site. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure familiarity and observance of the policy.
